Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http... Operation aborted

If you get the error "Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http... Operation aborted" in IE 7, check to see if the URL you are visiting the page with or have bookmarked has a "#" at the end (an empty target). If so you could have easily found the issue described in http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2247375&SiteID=1 as noted in the post "The IE bug (currently in 7.x) occurs on our website on the reviews pages which have named anchor links to jump to the top of the page. The operation aborted error only occurs on pages when users click the top of page anchor, but the top of page is already visible in this case as there is very little body content. I can't easily check for conditional page height in the script, or do anything to output body content as its all from a CMS database snippets." Things you can do to avoid this bug: * It appears that if you make sure that links in the page using javascript and pointing at the target "#" have a 'return false;' appended to whatever you have in the onclick, then that might help. * Try to be careful to not send someone a URL or bookmark a URL that ends in a "#". Thanks to Jeremy B. for his assistance with this.
